Special Abilities

ANIMAGUS

An Animagus is a witch or wizard that can transform themselves into an animal at will. It is a learned skill and not something that is hereditary. It is extremely difficult to train oneself to become an Animagus and the process can go terribly wrong. All Animagi must be over the age of 17 and register on the Animagus Registry by law. This skill takes years to master, so take this into account with writing your application history.

LEGILIMENCY

Legilimency is the act of reading through the layers of one's mind. It can help determine the emotions of feelings of the victim. This is a learned trait that takes quite a bit of skill and a few years of training. A Legilimens must be over the age of 20. It is possible for a witch or wizard to learn the act of both Legilimency and Occlumency but this takes many years, and the person must be over the age of 27.

METAMORPHMAGUS

A witch or wizard with the ability to change their appearance at will without aid of the Polyjuice Potion is known as a Metamorphmagus. This is an ability one is born with and it cannot be learned by anyone. Metamorphmagi can change any bit of their appearance from something as simple as the color of their hair to more advanced skills such as changing their age. It is also very common, as with most magic, for a Metamorphmagi's emotions to effect how they may change appearances. It is a rare ability that can be hereditary or pop up randomly within a magical family tree. Muggles cannot be born with this ability.

OCCLUMENCY

Occlumency is the act of closing off one's mind from a Legilimens. This is a learned trait that takes quite a bit of skill and a few years of training. An Occlumens must be over the age of 20. It is possible for a witch or wizard to learn the act of both Occlumency and Legilimency but this takes many years, and the person must be over the age of 27.

SEER

A Seer is a clairvoyant individual who is very sensitive to things the typical witch or wizard cannot see. Many call it the 'inner eye.' It is an ability that one is born with to truly be considered a Seer. They are also incredibly rare. A Seer's abilities can take many different forms. They can have glimpses into the past or the future, experience disturbing dreams that could reveal hidden information about something or someone, and they can also possess a hyperawareness for the world around them. Muggles cannot be born with this ability.
